Hoss Edmondson has been riding horses his whole life. From gymkhana events to the
mountains he has done it all!
He learned to drive teams around the age of 12 from skilled drivers Dwayne McArthur and Tom Ophus. On a yearly basis thereafter, he would volunteer to help Dwayne with the Spring and Fall Level 1 and 2 Draft Horse Clinics at the Olds College in Olds, Alberta.
In the meantime, Hoss would drive his single horse Brownie at home, who was a wild horse that he caught as a 3 year old stallion.
After completing high school, Hoss worked at Heritage Ranch in Red Deer as a teamster, taking out sleigh rides, wagon rides, and carriage rides, all after his regular day job.
In the spring of 2020 when he was laid off from his day job due to COVID-19, Hoss decided at the age of 21 that this was the perfect time to get a job doing what he has always wanted to do – guiding and outfitting!
He took a job west of Turner Valley, Alberta with Anchor D Guiding and Outfitting, where he was a teamster hauling camps into the Kananaskis Country for 3-7 day trips and, as well, hunting camps in the fall. Throughout the summer when he was not driving teams, Hoss was guiding 2-3 hour ranch rides to full mountain day rides.
Hoss loved the work, the people, and mostly the horses, but he wanted to find a way to do what he loved at his own hours and stay closer to home. So was born JR Adventures, which he hopes to grow to be a small yet steady guiding and outfitting business.
Brownie and Buddy
Brownie is a 10-year-old wild horse that Hoss caught out west (along with lots of help from his father and friends!) when Brownie would not leave their horses alone while they were camping! Brownie was a 3-year-old stallion at the time, but after he was caught he domesticated quickly and, after a few years of work, he has become Hoss’s best mountain horse and half
of a trusted team!
Buddy is a Fjord in his mid 20s, and we don’t know much else about Buddy other than he is a good hard worker and the calm that keeps Brownie in line!
Sassy and Joker
Sassy is an 11-year-old Percheron-Paint cross mare. Her father is Chief, the sire to many of Dwayne and Tom’s best horses. Yes, Sassy can live up to her name from time to time, but don’t let that worry you! She takes great care of anyone in her sleigh or wagon!
Joker is a 6-year-old Percheron-Paint cross mare. Her mother Heart was Dwayne McArthur’s “go to” horse for years! Just like Sassy, her father is Chief. Joker has been driven since she was 3 years old and is now a solid and reliable partner with Sassy.
Ace and Fornia
Ace is a 6-year-old Percheron-Paint cross gelding. Looking at him you may not believe he has the same father as Joker and Sassy, because he looks very close to his mother Fornia!
Fornia is a 13-year-old Percheron mare who has been one of Dwayne’s best horses for quite a few years now, She was paired with Joker’s mom Heart for years. And now, since Ace has been old enough to pull, she has been mentoring him to be the great horse he is now!

Sleigh Ride Specials!
Our sleighs can carry from 6-10 people and are available for rides all winter long, including evening and night time rides through snow covered trees with lights…perfect for date nights, family outings, or just fun and friendly get togethers!
FULL HOUR SLEIGH RENTALS: $150 per sleigh
- Bring your family and friends (up to sleigh capacity)
- Bonfire, hot chocolate, and marshmallows included
- Feel free to bring hamburgers, hotg dogs, etc.
- Toboggans are welcome for the kids!
WINTER WONDERLAND NIGHT LIGHT TOUR!
- A half-hour special winter adventure!
- Great option for date nights or family outings

Wagon Rides!
Good old-fashioned wagon rides are available Spring through Fall for groups large or small!

Want to hold a community event or family gathering with a touch of western excitement and adventure? Or maybe you just need an excuse to get everyone out of your house for a couple hours?
All you need is a place for us to park and a place for the ride to go! We can do multiple short rides or 1 long ride…it’s up to you!
We do ask that you book at least 2 weeks in advance for insurance purposes.

Weddings are very personal.
And if a western theme is a part of your big day, we have the horses, sleighs, wagons, and trucks to go to your location. Or maybe our ranch is the location? You have the dream, you know what you want…tell us what we can do to make your dream wedding come true!

Whether you are throwing an event for 10 people or 50, we can do it!

Kids in school look forward to fun-filled field trips all year long!
Too many children nowadays will not know the joy of a bonfire, sleigh rides, and tobogganing. We want to do our part to help those kids not go without…now it’s just up to you to book it!

Learn to Drive Basics!
We hope to offer basic Driving / Teamster clinics in the near future. Our clinics will teach you how to harness, hook and drive your single horse or team of horses safely.

Want to learn how to care for, tack up, and ride a horse? Young or old, come this spring we will be offering private lessons that will teach you!
Note: we ride western for pleasure. Nothing fancy…just safe and fun! We
will prepare you for an up and coming trip to the mountains or for riding
around the farm.
